Yoga and dancing for bone health. Dancing and yoga are not only good for overall fitness, they can help pre- and post-menopausal women lose weight and improve strength and flexibility, according to a study by the American College of Sports Medicine. A small group of women ages 39 to 60 participated in a yoga and dancing program for four hours a week in two sessions for one year. Researchers tracked their body weight, physical fitness and bone health. “These exercises may be especially appealing for older women, who need some type of physical activity to build their bone health but are not apt to be running or playing sports,” said Edtna Jauregui-Ulloa, lead author of the study.
