Contest fishermen will want to get their ice-fishing skills up to speed for the new year, when Eleven Mile State Park hosts a trio of tournaments beginning Jan. 7. The Colorado Classic Ice Fishing Tournament celebrates its 10th anniversary at Eleven Mile with the return of the Grand Slam on Jan. 7, followed by the South Park Ice Masters on Feb. 11 and wrapping up with Marina March Madness on March 10. Cash prizes determined by the number of entrants will be awarded to the first five places in each category of fish, as well as for the Grand Slam (top weight of your best fish in each category combined) and for the smallest pike caught. All tournaments are team events (two people), with one member required to be at least 18 years old. Entrants are eligible for door prizes that include Avalanche and Nuggets tickets, and teams competing in all three events are eligible for additional prize money. A separate ice-fishing tournament that will bene- fit Wounded Warrior USA will be at Mon- ument Lake on Jan. 28.
